Gracefield Arts Centre in Dumfries is showing a non-selling exhibition following the path of Gordon Cockburn and Ronnie Rae – two Ayrshire artists who met in the 1970s and became life-long friends. Sharing a desire to capture the heights and depths of the human soul, exploring subjects outwith the mainstream, their transcendent achievement is an ability to use gesture, line and form to shortcut emotional expression in a spontaneous, expressionistic style. They initially worked closely together (the ‘converge’ concept) and subsequently developed separately (the ‘diverge’ element). Dumfries
