At Torrance Gallery in Edinburgh, showing together for the first time are two artists working in oils, but approach the medium in very different ways.
Daniel Roy Sharples paints en plein air, working rapidly in situ on boards positioned on street corners and parks. His cityscapes and street scenes are so vivid you feel you are standing next to him, seeing everything as he does.
Ruth Corbett creates highly representative still life works, mostly floral studies. She also enjoys en plein air painting for her dream-like seascapes and landscapes, which she finishes back in her studio.
