The Shipyard Painters at the Old Low Light Heritage Centre in North Shields comprises artworks created by employees of the Tyne’s famous shipyards, most of it is little known outside the local area. Their art reflects contrasting aspects of the northeast, from gritty, industrial scenes to depictions of the northeast coast and countryside. The Shipyard Painters is co-presented by the Tynemouth Fine Art Gallery, which has a sister exhibition entitled A View from the Tyne.
