This year’s North East Open Studios (NEOS) event is planned to proceed, subject to Covid-19 restrictions, from 12th – 20th September, with over 180 spaces and artists scheduled to take part. Although no guide has been printed, a downloadable version is available from the event’s website and a guide will be available from member studios. Since lockdown came into force, NEOS has been busy posting daily videos, artwork and updates on its Facebook and Instagram pages.
Established in 2004 and one of the largest open studio events in the UK with almost 320 participants last year, North East Open Studios (NEOS) is an annual landmark open-studio super-exhibition for art in the north-east of Scotland, covering photography, painting, illustration, heritage crafts, mixed media, sculpture, textiles, printmaking, glass, wood, jewellery, multimedia, ceramics and more. Moreover, it affords an opportunity for the the north-east’s artists and craft community to get together and enjoy networking. The initiative was recently awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – the voluntary sector’s equivalent of Membership of the British Empire.
