2020 event planned for 12th – 20th September
Established in 2004 and one of the largest open studio events in the UK with almost 320 participants last year, North East Open Studios (NEOS) is an annual landmark open-studio super-exhibition for art in the north-east of Scotland, covering photography, painting, illustration, heritage crafts, mixed media, sculpture, textiles, printmaking, glass, wood, jewellery, multimedia, ceramics and more. Moreover, it affords an opportunity for the the north-east’s artists and craft community to get together and enjoy networking.
While this year’s event is planned to proceed subject to Covid-19 restrictions, the great news is that the initiative has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – the voluntary sector’s equivalent of Membership of the British Empire. While lockdown is in force, NEOS has been busy posting daily videos on its Facebook and Instagram pages.
