Dockside Gallery

Dockside Gallery  is situated on Berwick’s Lowry Trail. Reflecting the gallery’s surroundings of working docks and coastal landscapes, the artwork is inspiring, uplifting and changes regularly. This is a small and independently run gallery which supports artists and creative designers from North of Scotland to Southern England.

Many visit Berwick and rarely cross the old bridge into Tweedmouth which has its own particular charm and a beautiful beach – a perfect spot to work! Scotland being less than 3 miles away from Berwick-upon-Tweed Dockside Gallery is the perfect location for cross-border collaboration.

The Dockside Gallery is shortlisted for the 2018 Northumberland Business Awards in the Innovation category and stocks original paintings, prints, cards, plus a range of unusual gifts including ceramics and jewellery.

Penn Gallery

Paintings by Gavin Penn

Penn Gallery opening exhibition A Year’s Journey through Art features original work by figurative painter and gallery owner Gavin Penn. The exhibition will be revolving as new works are being added all the time. You can purchase greetings cards and prints which support the exhibition.

Gavin and his work showcase a unique style of strong light, clear colours and subtle emphasis is evident in figurative paintings that show depth and feeling with engaging narrative.

A Year’s Journey through Art follows the preparation of new works for Penn Gallery’s opening exhibition. The journey starts with a series of ‘Character’ paintings, inspired by concept art and the style of the 1920’s, continues via the music inspired ‘Jazz Blues’ series and some ‘Rose’ paintings, inspired by Alnwick Garden. The ‘Renaissance Sky’ series, which were clearly inspired by the beautiful broad beaches and wide skies of the Northumberland coast, continue the journey.

The newest paintings in the exhibition were painted in Penn Gallery and the influence the local environment is increasingly evident.

In case you have any questions, Gavin will be on hand during Penn Gallery opening hours to answer questions and talk about the paintings. Gavin will also be painting in the gallery over the coming weeks.
