Musician Neil Brand‘s heart-warming performance about the comedy duo Laurel and Hardy, is coming to Musselburgh’s Brunton Theatre. The show ranges from their earliest days on opposite sides of the Atlantic (Lancashire-born Stan Laurel lived in Glasgow for many years) in Music Hall and stage, through their individual comedy films before being paired up by Hal Roach to the cherished silent masterpieces for which they are still best-known. The story is a touching one, highlighting their differing personalities, and illustrated with stills and moving clips, with Brand’s piano accompaniment. The show culminates in two of their best silent short films, promising much hilarity.
