Nature Works at Upright Gallery in Edinburgh showcases artist books by over 30 artists from three continents. Generally considered artworks in their own right, artist books are usually inexpensive to produce and often ‘democratically’ available to the public, especially if published in several editions. Artist books have been in production for centuries and have been adopted by William Blake, William Morris and movements such as Dada, Constructivism and Fluxus, appearing in a wide range of forms, from the traditional codex to scrolls, fold-outs, concertina and loose leaf. This selection focuses on the theme of climate change.
