Art & Craft Collective in Edinburgh’s first exhibition of 2022 is A Celebration of Colour in the Landscape, showing works made during lockdown by local artist Alistair McIntyre. ‘Al’ started painting with watercolours and drawing in pencil, and moved to acrylics and oils when, while studying watercolour, his tutor suggested trying other media. Working en plein air and in the studio, he has developed an ‘innocent’ style, with a freedom of colour and touch of sophistication; these works are celebrations of the colours the East Lothian landscape. A member of the society of Scottish Artists, Al’s work is in private collections, offices and has been widely exhibited.
The gallery has also taken delivery of some new handmade wood vessels, including a twig vase made from a 15th-century roof beam.
