Curated by Anna Davis, N.E.W is an exhibition of work by some of the East Lothian artists and makers who received VACMA (Visual Artists and Craft Makers Awards) bursaries during 2022. Established in 2008, the awards are managed by East Lothian Council’s Arts Service, in partnership with Creative Scotland, and have allowed local artists and makers to develop their practice, create new work, explore new techniques or experiment with new materials.

Among the artists featured are Leith-based Jenny Deans, who creates elegant contemporary jewellery; architect John Lancaster, who draws historic buildings in East Lothian in pen & ink; Philip Joseph Rae, an artist and musician based in Musselburgh working in film, photography and sound; multi-disciplinary artist Neil Russell (whose work is pictured), whose pieces can be purchased during the exhibition, with each work replaced with a new creation; and Reb T, whose work encompasses performance, film and sculpture, immortalising celebrities in paint.
