Artmag‘s initiative, launched in early April, has been met with an enthusiastic flood of responses, and we’ve been posting our favourites on social media, once a day.
We’d like to thank all those who’ve submitted work so far, and hope this is a helpful way of supporting the explosion of artistic activity since the public health emergency lockdown, during which many artists have been producing imaginative and vigorous work. A lot of them had been looking for the time to settle-in to produce new work, maybe for the first time, and have finally had that chance, while social media platforms have seen the launch of myriad artist support initiatives such as #artistssupportpledge on Instagram, lately attracting nearly 60,000 followers; a great many galleries across the country who have been showing their collections online are reopening, and they are looking for your support after a very uncertain period.
Meanwhile, we’re continuing to invite anyone producing new visual art and craft/sculpture or video work since the UK lockdown began, to send us a good-quality photo of it to this page. One jpg-format file (1200 pixels wide minimum, 2mb maximum) please, together with your name, contact email and website if you have one, with a short message (max 25 words) about the piece, and we’ll do our best to post some of our favourites. Follow #mynewart #artmag and #artmaguk hashtags.
Thank you again, from Artmag.
