Lunchbreak Concerts have returned to Aberdeen Art Gallery’s Cowdray Hall with a fortnightly series of recitals in a range of music genres by established and emerging performers, professional and non-professional, from northeast Scotland and further afield. Recognised for its superb natural acoustics, the Hall was gifted to the people of Aberdeen in 1926 by Lady Cowdray of Dunecht to ‘encourage a taste for art and music in the city of Aberdeen’.
After launching in ambitious style with virtuoso pianist Joseph Long continuing his personal challenge to play all 18 of Mozart’s piano sonatas, the programme continues with Thistle String Quartet (17th February), Aberdeen City Music School (3rd March), Neil Birse & Ed Parr playing jazz (17th March) and Songs from Medieval Aberdeen (31st March). Admission is free but advance booking is advised.
