As a worthy winner of the Island Hotel of the Year award, Kinloch Lodge on the Isle of Skye is a Highland haven for foodies and a tranquil escape at any time of the year. Beautifully furnished, homely bedrooms have spectacular views of the seashore and loch while the drawing rooms have comfy sofas and log fires.

On the way, spot white tailed eagles, golden eagles, falcons, hen harriers, otters and red deer.
