An exhibition of original works and giclée prints by Michael Hepburn is at Medinelli’s Pop-Up Shop in Gourock.
Primarily self-taught, Michael is a Greenock artist specialising in pastel paintings – his preferred medium because of its wide range of pre-mixed colour variations, and the soft appearance of the finished work, achieving a warm naturalistic effect through colour, light and tone.

His work covers a number of genres and has been exhibited at The Royal Scottish Academy, The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine arts, The Pastel Society in London and a variety of other galleries throughout the UK, and features in private collections such as the McLean Museum, the late Sir Arnold Clark, The Clyde Maritime Trust, Clydeport and the late Norman Godman MP, among others.
Growing-up near the Firth of Clyde, with its shipbuilding tradition, with a father working on paddle steamers explains why maritime art is close to his heart. His dad took him on numerous trips, nurturing an abiding interest in the subject and his high school art teacher was renowned maritime artist James Watt.
Notably, Michael runs a website, Hepburn Fine Art, featuring his work, as well as his Instagram and Facebook pages.
