Making Space at the Meffan Museum & Art Gallery in Forfar is an exhibition of new, installation-based work by ceramic artists Carol Sinclair and Lorna Fraser, responding to memory and space within the context of the natural world. Carol Sinclair uses gently shifting and changing light between paper-thin layers of translucent porcelain to echo the way memories build through layers of experience, while Lorna Fraser’s installation captures the moment when the tropical tree Kembang Semankuk releases its fruits, allowing them to flutter to the forest floor, a metaphor for the fragility of nature and the environment.
