Very timely, as we get set for Olympic fever, is the news that Loch Melfort Hotel at Arduaine, near Oban, has been awarded a Gold medal by VisitScotland in recognition of outstanding hospitality.
Since taking over three years ago, owners Calum and Rachel Ross have had the aim to make their friendly, 3 star, family-run hotel, (just 21 bedrooms) one of the best places to stay on the West Coast – and now they have succeeded.
The Asknish Bay Restaurant has two AA Rosettes, with a menu based on seasonal local produce, as well as homemade bread, marmalade, ice cream and traditional Scottish tablet.
