The Glasgow Gallery is showing an exhibition of powerful landscapes by internationally-respected contemporary painter and tutor Margaret Evans. A Glasgow School of Art and University of London alumna, Margaret is internationally recognised for her painting, writing and teaching is noted for her work in pastel.

Although her work is influenced by her experiences abroad, for this new exhibition she focuses closer to home, in a display of over thirty new paintings, including depictions of Glencoe, Easdale, Rannoch and Loch Earn, which are among the places that have inspired her throughout her career. She says, Whether my library of sketchbooks from all my travels initiate a work, or the camera/phone on a quick local trip, the impact is the same – a moment of inspiration. Sometimes it’s the sun setting behind clouds, or the light over the landscape. It creates a magic moment which pastels can immediately capture.’
