Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock is hosting Mark Youd‘s exhibition Psyche – A Portrait of the Mind. Mark relocated to Inverclyde recently from South Wales, and his work combines his keen interest in the study of consciousness with his experimental artistic practice. The exhibition comprises a series of paintings, sculptures, prints and audio-visual pieces that capture the immediacy of the creative act, in order ‘to channel a vision of the subconscious mind’. The work takes inspiration from philosophy, physics, spirituality and psychology, and from artists such as Edvard Munch, Nathan Oliveira and Antony Gormley, in an energetic, spontaneous display of abstract expressions of the psyche.
