Since its founding in 1947 by Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson and other photographers, the legendary co-operative Magnum Photos has chronicled the people, cultures, events and issues of our time. Now, following its 75th anniversary, comes an updated and expanded edition of the original 2007 publication, which sold over 200,000 copies worldwide. In accordance with Magnum’s original concept whereby each of the founders picture edited the others’ images, this book evokes the same creative spirit, with each photographer selecting and critiquing six key works by another of the agency’s 87 photographers, from modern masters to rising stars, along with a commentary explaining the rationale behind their choices. This new edition adds the 25 photographers who have joined Magnum in the last 15 years and packs 533 photographs into 700-plus pages.
