Gallery Q Dundee is mounting an exhibition of new work by popular Stirlingshire artist Marion Drummond, along with a mixed exhibition of paintings by gallery artists. Born in Glasgow in 1958, Marion is largely self-taught, but acknowledges benefitting from attending life classes, and she has been awarded membership of PAI – Paisley Art Institute. Her paintings are in private and corporate collections across Europe, well-known for their vibrant colour and rich texture. Her approach has an interesting aspect to it, in that she takes deliberate breaks from a piece, placing it at the end of her bed, to see afresh what’s lacking in it when she sees it it on waking.
The mixed exhibition includes new paintings by Catriona Millar, Helga Chart, Gwen Adair, Deborah Phillips, John Paul Raine, Stuart Moir and Irene McCann, and the Gallery has its usual selection of beautiful glass, ceramics and jewellery on display.
