Online and at Lyon & Turnbull’s Edinburgh sale rooms, an upcoming auction features furniture, paintings and works of art from three historic homes, including the Georgian Penicuik House and the Aberdeenshire castle Towie Barclay, both of which represent two iconic periods of the Scottish country home. Penicuik House was one of the earliest and most impressive examples of Palladian architecture in Scotland, while Towie Barclay, the ancestral home of the Barclay clan, is an enchanting example of a fortified tower house from the mid-16th century.
