Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock is showing work by Glasgow-based artist Lilian Evans (b.2002), who is completing her Master of Fine Art at Glasgow School of Art, having graduated from Loughborough University in 2023 with a first-class Honours in Fine Art.
Lilian takes a sensual approach to waste materials, constructing large-scale draped formations and subjecting them to physical manipulation – a process described as characterised ‘…by the love, lust and longing she feels for her materials.’

This exhibition expresses her ‘methodology of desire’ – constructing, often in-situ, large-scale draped formations from lorry curtain, and navigating ‘…the complex power dynamic between herself and her materials, her artistic authority often giving in to the sheer weight of the material she wrestles, which inevitably, and irrevocably informs the formations created.’

Lilian’s exhibitions include a place in my heart (a solo exhibition at The Pipe Factory, 2024) and an upcoming exhibition with curator Aliya Prichard-Casey, I DARE YOU TO LOVE ME.
