In the centenary year of the first appearance in print of Hugh MacDiarmid, the great Scottish 20th-century poet and political pioneer, Landmarks – Hugh MacDiarmid: The Brownsbank Years at the Line Gallery in Linlithgow sees Ruth Nicol and Sandy Moffat, two of Scotland’s finest contemporary artists, along with poet and professor of Scottish Literature at Glasgow University Alan Riach celebrate and explore MacDiarmid’s work and life with his wife Valda Trevlyn at their home in Brownsbank Cottage, which they shared from 1951 until their deaths in 1978 and 1989 respectively.
