Featured artist for September at Aberfeldy Gallery is Fiona Sturrock, who switched careers from clinical psychologist to professional artist after being invited to exhibit at Perth’s Frames Gallery, who had admired her work while framing it. She is exhibited in several Scottish galleries and her work is held in many private collections. Recently she was invited to showcase her paintings in The World of Interiors magazine.
Fiona says, ‘For me the process of painting is a meditation. I become completely involved in the practice of mixing colour and laying down patterns of light, shade and texture. There is minimal conscious awareness of anything other than what I am doing in that moment. I tend to work on one painting at a time, giving it my full focus and energy, which I think often translates visibly in the intensity of colour and boldness of the finished piece of work.’
Fiona’s work is shown alongside a large mixed exhibition of landscapes, wildlife art and Perthshire scenes by established and emerging local and national artists.
