While its doors remain closed, Leith School of Art is continuing its online presence, advertising its year-long and short courses, and preparing a series of online Summer School courses, with details to be announced soon.
On its Facebook page, the School, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, is advertising a number of upcoming tuition events as well as reporting on its artist community: its Painting Course leader Catharine Davison is exhibiting at the Open Eye Gallery with her online show The World Outside, its Drawing Course Tutor Jane Couroussopoulos has been continuing to make work at home during lockdown, and the School’s most recent LSA Graduate Resident Lucia Welsh recently exhibited at the RSA New Contemporaries exhibition alongside two other talented LSA alumni Lynsey MacKenzie and Katherine Allan.
As reported by Artmag.co.uk, Lucia, AKA Lucia Pearla, was awarded the prestigious RSA Patrons Award and the Walter Scott Award for her work earlier this year, and the School’s inspiring environment played a key rôle in assisting her in embarking on life as a working artist. Her residency included large-scale work with the School’s tutors and technicians.
