Masterpieces from Buckingham Palace at The Queen’s Gallery, Palace of Holyrood House in Edinburgh is an opportunity to see over thirty paintings from the Royal Collection which normally hang in the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace in London. The Royal Collection is one of the foremost collections of Old Masters paintings in the world, and this new exhibition includes works by Rembrandt (four in all – the largest group currently on public display in Scotland), Rubens and Van Dyck, and a self-portrait by Artemesia Gentileschi, the first woman to be admitted to the Florentine Academy. The paintings are displayed at eye-level, affording viewers an intimate encounter with each one.
