Jolomo: From Dalriada to the Western Isles at Gallery Q in Dundee features new work by John Lowrie Morrison OBE, one of Scotland’s most successful artists. Morrison, AKA Jolomo trained at Glasgow School of Art, then worked in education for 25 years before taking up full-time painting in 1997. He received an OBE in 2011 for services to art and charity in Scotland. His main studio is in Tayvallich on the Sound of Jura and he also has a smaller studio on the edge of Loch Sunart, Ardnamurchan. He says, ‘This portfolio of paintings are of the West Coast, but it’s more than that. They are some of my most favourite motifs that I keep going back to over 50 years or more.’
The gallery supports the Own Art finance scheme, which makes purchasing artworks more affordable through payment by instalments.
