Inspired by the Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh and in the 50th anniversary year of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society, a joint exhibition between the Scottish Glass Society and the Contemporary Glass Society has taken national icons as this year’s exhibition theme.
Glass artists were asked to consider their interpretation of the theme, including places (famous, infamous or special), people (famous and not-so-famous individuals or groups and what they are known for), things (inventions, objects or discoveries) and feelings (positive, negative, euphoric, impactful, creative, revolutionary or game-changing).
This show sees over 80 exhibits by 56 Scottish Glass Society and Contemporary Glass Society members demonstrate the beauty and versatility of contemporary glass, with its magical colours, textures, use of light and the variety of techniques used to create them.
