Morningside Gallery in Edinburgh is staging its first solo show by Jennifer Irvine, a Glasgow School of Art graduate and elected member of the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour. The 25 paintings take viewers on a journey through Jennifer’s favourite painting places, including as the Provence region of France, where she achieves a real feeling of the heat of the sun soaking into the buildings and creating shimmering light and luminous shadow, the Hebridean island of Tiree, where even on a day of leaden skies there is a pale, translucent, turquoise light, and the Algarve region of Portugal, where she concentrates on the intense colour afforded by the bountiful bougainvillea and mimosa.
