The Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh is mounting its second major presentation of the work of Hannah Mooney: Into the Landscape is a testament to the Irish artist’s development as a painter since graduating from the Glasgow School of Art, and receiving the prestigious Fleming-Wyfold Art Bursary. Working mainly small-scale, her paintings make a subject of the landscape around her home in Mayo, Ireland – names such as Mulranny, Lough Swilly, Scardaune and Ballyglass only adding to their romanticism; her keen observation and familiarity with the landscape are key factors in evolving its dramatic light and shade.

An online Meet the Artist event will take place via the Gallery’s website on 8th December, and a catalogue is available to purchase.
