According to Greek mythology Antigone was the daughter of Oedipus and the subject of a play by Sophocles. In Antigone, Interrupted Scottish Dance Theatre choreographer Joan Clevillé reimagines a classic story for a contemporary world through the body and the voice of a single performer, Solène Weinachter, to explore the notion of dissent in democracy and how the female body can be the target of oppression, but also a powerful tool for resistance. Using his distinctive mixture of dance, theatre and storytelling, Clevillé examines the notion of dissent in democracy, and how the female body can be the target of oppression but also a powerful tool for resistance, in a portrayal of a young girl ready to die to defend what she thinks is right.

20th May at The Barn, Banchory, and 26th May, at Dundee Rep Theatre.
