The Dockside Gallery in Berwick-upon-Tweed has a selection of figurative works of animals and people by Joyce Gunn Cairns, one of Scotland’s most extensively-exhibited artists. Her paintings and drawings are intensely personal, exploring her emotional and physical history and often using her own body as a point of departure. She also produces portrait drawings, usually of friends.
The Gallery hosts ever-changing exhibitions of original paintings, prints, cards, plus a range of gift ideas including ceramics and jewellery, and now has a new website in operation, incorporating a new Miniature Gallery, with original miniature paintings by Gallery artists, and 1:12 scale original artworks, curated from across the globe. Their Inspired by Berwick section features paintings inspired by Berwick-upon-Tweed and the rugged Scottish coastline to the north, and Northumberland’s expansive sandy beaches to the south. Through its support for the Own Art finance scheme the Gallery aims to make exciting works collectable and available to all.
