The Scottish International Storytelling Festival returns with an extended hybrid programme which is the most diverse yet, celebrating a wide range of cultures, ethnicities, gender diversity and abilities in this most traditional and ancient of art forms. For the first time, an open call was extended to performers new to storytelling to create works on the theme of ‘Imagine’. Other highlights include a celebration of the pioneering storyteller, poet and writer George Mackay Brown on the centenary of his birth, the largest Go Local programme to date, whereby the festival expands from its Edinburgh base to include almost 40 events from Dumfries and Galloway to Orkney, and an emphasis through the Global Lab programme on storytelling as a means of understanding our relationship with the environment.
