The Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh is showing two exhibitions:

Shown in two sections comprising nearly forty artists, Folk at Heart collects a combination of practitioners in the fine, popular and applied arts to sit alongside self-taught and anonymous folk artists, mixing the contemporary with the historical, and embracing the naïve and unpretentious. Social history, the decorative or useful, the subversive and the grotesque all get a look-in, in painting, printmaking, collage, ceramics, jewellery, basket-weaving, quilting and embroidery, plus curious and rare vintage ‘finds’.

Also showing is a collection of work by Jane Keith (whose work is pictured at top): Paisley-born, into a family of artists, and graduate Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in printed textiles, Jane is a long-standing part-time lecturer at the College, currently living in Fife, where she works from her studio. She produces high-end, hand-printed silkscreens, hand-painted wearable textiles and works on paper.
