As the pipers and drummers of the world converge on Glasgow for the World Pipe Band Championships, a former member of one of Scotlands leading contemporary piping groups is settling into his new role. Stuart Cassells (pictured), one-time frontman of Red Hot Chilli Pipers is now general manager of Glenturret Distillery in Crieff.
Stuart retired as a professional musician in 2011 and he went into the whisky industry, working in Edrington Group’s brands team. His first few weeks in the Glenturret role has seen him play host to William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, take key roles at 2014 Bannockburn Live and at the Commonwealth games where the Famous Grouse was the official whisky provider.
