Having hosted its 2021 programme online, Scotland’s silent film festival Hippfest has launched its 2022 programme, featuring a number of films and presentations postponed from 2020’s schedule, plus new commissions and additions for this year. Laurel and Hardy, Buster Keaton (pictured) and Douglas Fairbanks, Lon Chaney, Joan Crawford and Gloria Swanson are among those making a return to the Hippodrome cinema in Bo’ness, and there will be live appearances from storyteller Marion Kenny and Scottish folk singer Mairi Campbell, and musical accompaniment from The Dodge Brothers with Mark Kermode plus a live narration from actor Paul McGann. The festival has been shortlisted for Best Arts Project in the National Campaign for the Arts’ Hearts for the Arts Awards 2022. Early booking is advised.
