A unique interpreter of landscape, Aberdeenshire-based artist Hetty Haxworth’s is exhibiting at Edinburgh’s Upright Gallery, continuing a run of recent shows in the capital, such as at the Graystone Gallery last autumn. Hetty’s daily walks near her rural home bring her repeated encounters with the way colour and light transform and shape the landscape, which she develops via collage or drawing into print – often appearing abstract at first glance, but always with the landscape as a basis, such as the oval shape in a local loch kept open by the waterfowl when the water froze over.
An experienced printmaker, practising over the 25 years since graduating from Glasgow School of Art, Hetty has exhibited widely in Scotland (Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, and The Scottish Society of Artists), England (The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition), Australia, the US, Denmark and Brussels.
