Taking the striking landscape of Caithness as her starting point, Helen Moore: While I Was Waiting at Upright Gallery in Edinburgh explores how rural space is used in the modern day and the impact humans have on the environment.

Including un-intrusive, everyday objects in the forefront of her paintings – touches which provide the human aspect of living in a rural community, Helen hints at the lives of the people there and their day-to-day activities. The landscape is the main focus, the big skies and boundless horizons characterising that part of the country.

Originally from Yorkshire, where she trained at Bradford College of Art, Helen Moore has lived in the far north of Scotland for 15 years. She is a recipient of the Society of Scottish Artists’ Upright Gallery prize.
