Edinburgh’s Doubtfire Gallery has an exhibition of new paintings by Euan McGregor, evoking subjects close to his heart – places on the margins, a nostalgic resonance with the past, and modernist-style architecture, all explored in moods of light and colour. Lighthouses and harbours are a prime example, having their place in the past but still strongly recognisable to people as places of safety and refuge. With a background in printing, Euan has been awarded several prizes and awards from respected Scottish institutions; he teaches Art & Design, and lives in West Kilbride on the north Ayrshire coast.

Euan last exhibited in an online exhibition at the gallery in June last year, Water of Life: read our review.
