Edinburgh’s The Nomads Tent is altogether unique in the city, describing itself as ‘a warehouse of tribal art directly importing oriental carpets, tribal & contemporary rugs & kilims, jewellery, artefacts and furniture from Iran, India, Afghanistan, Turkey, The Caucasus, Pakistan, and the Himalayan Kingdoms’. The gallery and shop know the eastern souks and bazaars well and hand-select their favourites, to offer a selection of rugs, kilims, hand-crafted artefacts, ceramics, cushions, jewellery, furniture and textiles.
As part of Edinburgh’s Festival August, Nomads is mounting two events, Friday 6th to Sunday 29th: a selling exhibition of photographs and objects, Tales of Travel & Trade: a photographic journey of celebration, looking back over nearly 40 years of the gallery’s travel to myriad countries around the world (pictured). And Fiery Love: A retrospective – an exhibition of the work of Edinburgh-based ceramicist Frances Lichtveld Baird, who produced functional and sculptural work at her Edinburgh studio, Ixora Pottery.
The gallery and shop hold sales and special offers all year round.
