Brought up on the West Coast of Scotland, Greig Gilchrist settled with his family on the Isle of Lismore after 35 years living and working around the world. He now designs and creates from his studio and workshop, housed in restored outbuildings on his wife Sadie’s family farm, and produces a unique style of furniture and other crafted art, sourcing local hard wood and foraged objects from the area – particularly the Highland coastline. Their collection can be viewed online and at their gallery, as well as at galleries in Scotland and beyond. Greig offers to take visitors round his workshop – if it’s tidy!
The influence of the sea and many years of diving are reflected in the woods, which delicately encapsulate the foraged objects. These are complemented beautifully by Sadie’s dried flowers and grasses, which she collects from the farm on the Isle of Lismore – often displayed in vases and made from a character hardwood left over from Greig’s artwork and polished to a beautiful satin finish.
