West Lothian-based artist and cartoonist Greg Moodie is showing an exhibition of his latest body of work, Torphichen Faces, comprising portraits begun during the Covid-19 lockdown of 2020: over time the series has grown to over 50 paintings, capturing a period of shared experience, and illustrating the endurance of his local community in Torphichen.

Prior to the emergency, Greg had depicted the Tam O’Shanter story in a series of murals based on photographs of local people, now displayed at the Torphichen Inn. For this series, he employed a similar technique, photographing local people while social-distancing, so while the project began in isolation it has ended in the entire collection now being available to the whole community.

A special launch event at St John’s Hall is taking place on Friday the 3rd from 7 to 9pm, with Fiona Hyslop MSP and Councillor Pauline Stafford – open to the public.
