Four contemporary artists explore the fine line between art and craft in A Fine Line at Gracefield Arts Centre in Dumfries, working in different media, but united by detailed observation and strong draughtsmanship. Ceramicist Frances Priest creates intricate and colourful objects to explore and interpret languages of ornamentation from different cultures, places and historical periods. Bronwen Sleigh is a multidisciplinary artist who takes inspiration from industrial architecture, unused and forgotten urban spaces and environments at the edge of the city.  Using home-grown Scottish willow, birch, heather, bog myrtle and other native woods, Lizzie Farey creates traditional and abstract sculptural forms influenced by nature and the Galloway landscape. Similarly, Angie Lewin is inspired by the clifftops and salt marshes of the north Norfolk coast and the Scottish Highlands, depicting their native floras in still life compositions made with wood engraving, lithograph and collage.
