GI Glasgow International Festival 2021 Dates Announced

GI Festival

11 Jun 2021 – 27 Jun 2021

With over 60 admission free exhibitions, performances and events taking place over 18 days across Glasgow, GI Glasgow international is the largest festival for contemporary visual art in Scotland. The 2020 festival – the second under Richard Parry’s direction, and the ninth edition – was postponed due to the ongoing health crisis, but an online programme was made available, featuring new commissions and work scheduled for the 2020 festival. The 2021 edition dates have been announced: Fri 11 – Sun 27 Jun.

The website features additional material including an audio introduction to the Festival by Richard Parry, and a recorded panel discussion between Parry, curator Stefanie Hessler and writers Brian Dillon and Orit Gat, exploring the ways in which the resonance of the festival’s theme of has changed in light of the health crisis.

With its theme of attention, the 2021 edition, aims to be ‘a crescendo in the creative rhythm of the city, a concentrated instance that opens up a space for relearning and recovering the stretches of time before, during and beyond it. Attention seeks to step outside the everyday and open up a new space for looking, thinking and spending time with the work of artists and to see afresh the intent behind the work.’

The festival is also looking for a Production Manager and a Communications Manager, with closing dates of 13 and 18 Jan respectively.
