David Michie OBE, RSA, FRSA, FECA (1928-2015) painted colourful, expressionist canvases in a bold style similar to that of his mother, the much loved Scottish painter Anne Redpath. To celebrate what would have been his 90th birthday, a retrospective of 50 paintings and etchings has been organised by his two daughters in a selling exhibition at the Glasgow Art Club, the first solo show of his work in the city. Also featured are works by Anne Redpath and Michie’s father, James. In his self-published David Michie: A Sketchbook, he wrote of his work: ‘There is not a single enduring theme, except my continuing curiosity for what I have found around me.’
