From 29th November
A group of internationally respected artists has created a series of limited edition prints to support the Glad Café, a much-loved independent café and venue on Glasgow’s Southside. The café first opened its doors in 2012, and is well-known and respected for providing a space for young, experimental musicians and artists to show work and perform.
Contributing artists include previous Turner Prize nominees Monster Chetwynd and Cathy Wilkes as well as works by acclaimed musicians such as Kathryn Joseph and Tommy Grace (Django Django). The artists all have a strong relationship to the Southside of Glasgow: Rabiya Choudhry grew up there, and many live and work in the area, including 93 year-old Norman Gilbert whose career, partly due to social media and the BBC’s short documentary ‘The Unteachable Artist’, is going from strength to strength. The set of ten Glad Editions will be launched on Friday 29th November, with a special party at the Glad Café with guest DJs, Duncan Marquiss (The Phantom Band) and Tommy Grace.
