Colinton Arts is hosting The Light Surrounding Us – a solo exhibition of work by Edinburgh-based painter Gill Knight. A self-taught painter, Gill is a former executive chef, and works from her studio in South Queensferry, and is known for her semi-abstract style, with a her own vision of land and seascape, using a reduced colour-palette, which results in a strongly atmospheric expression. She derives inspiration from regular outdoor walks, feeling moved, as she puts it, ‘…to transfer experiences, feelings, and memories into paint. I draw on my love of light and shade to immerse the viewer in a world of possibilities and occasional peril.’ The gallery will hold a private view on Thursday 3rd February from 6pm.
