The Stonehaven art and framing gallery Eion Stewart is staging Linked by Ink, an exhibition exploring the expressive and technical possibilities of contemporary printmaking. Featuring work by nine artists* proficient in very different subject-matter and technique, the exhibition is an exciting addition to the the gallery’s regular schedule, showcasing a range of approaches from woodblock and linocut to contemporary mixed processes, and highlighting the technical rigour and material intelligence of print as a medium in its own right.

The show boasts a broad appeal, and includes a selection of unframed works, offering an accessible way to collect, comprising over 100 etchings, linocuts, wood engravings, collagraphs and digital prints; each work leaves a trace of process, gesture and imagination, revealing the subtle dialogue between ink, paper and the artist’s hand.

*Babs Pease, Paul Boyle, Caroline Erolin, Kim Duncan, Sarah Ross-Thompson, John Johnstone, Nicky Sanderson, Suzie MacKenzie and Gregory Moore (whose work is pictured).
