In Gail Stirling Robertson: On a Storyteller’s Night at Artisan& Gallery in Aberfeldy the artist takes ordinary or familiar places and moves them into the realm of the storybook. A tumbledown shed can become a shelter for witches or a woodland path can reveal an incongruous door or telephone box. By making small adjustments to structures, largely overlooked features such as chimney pots become more animated, giving a painting a whimsical edge.
