Nael Hanna: Auchmithie Coastal at Fraser Gallery in St Andrews features new works by the Iraqi-born artist, pictured below, who served in the Iran-Iraq war before being awarded a scholarship from the Ministry of Education in Baghdad to study art in Scotland, where he took a degree in Fine Art at Duncan Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, eventually becoming a lecturer there. His passion for the east coast of Scotland has resulted in a prolific output of abstract landscapes.
Fraser Gallery is one of Scotland’s oldest privately-owned galleries. Owned and managed by Roderick and Louise Fraser, it first opened its doors in 1862 in Dundee under the auspices of Roderick’s great-great-grandfather. This year it celebrates 160 years in business.
